It is a great honour for Philippe Lawrence that the songs”The Reason Why” and “One More Time”, which I composed and performed, were chosen to be part of the music for the Brazilian series “Ti Ti Ti” and “Top Model“, which were watched by millions of viewers around the world, and to have been included in 5 albums alongside international artists such as Tina Turner, the Bee Gees, Led Zeppelin, Toto, FR David, Kassav and many others.

The Reason Why in the series    “Ti Ti Ti” for the theme of Suzana

At the time, the Brazilian channel TV Globo selected songs from the greatest national and international artists of the moment for its series called telenovelas or novelas, and at the same time released compilations of the best titles. The song “The reason why” was chosen by TV Globo for its telenovela “Ti Ti Ti“. In particular, this song was chosen for the theme of Suzana, whose character was played by the actress Marieta Severo.

This series by Cassiano Gabus Mendès created in collaboration with Luís Carlos Fusco, directed by Wolf Maya and Fred Confalonieri, was broadcast in Brazil in 185 episodes, from 5 August 1985 to 8 March 1986, on the Brazilian channel Rede Globo.

The telenovela “Ti Ti Ti” was broadcast in Bolivia, Chile, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Hungary, Indonesia, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Dominican Republic, Romania, Russia, Turkey, Uruguay and Venezuela, among others.

 One More Time in the series         “Top Model” for the theme of Nana

The song “One More Time” was chosen by TV Globo for its telenovela “Top Model“, to illustrate the theme of the character Anastacia Passos, known as “Nana”, played by the actress Zezé Polessa.

The telenovela Top Model, directed by Walter Negrão and Antônio Calmon and starring model Malu Mader as the main character, was broadcast in 198 episodes, from 18 September 1989 to 4 May 1990, by Rede Globo.

Set in Rio de Janeiro, it conquered the country and has one of the highest ratings to date for 7pm soap operas broadcast on Rede Globo. It was one of the first to focus on the world of teenagers. Actors Zezé Polessa and Drica Moraes made their debut on TV Globo and were the big revelations of this series, playing the funny characters Naná and Cida respectively.

The telenovela “Top Model” was broadcast in its entirety from 19 December 2011 to 8 September 2012, 21 years after its first broadcast.

The telenovela “Top Model” has been broadcast in Bolivia, Chile, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Hungary, Indonesia, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Dominican Republic, Romania, Russia, Turkey, Uruguay and Venezuela, among others.
